Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement
The Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement is a nongovernment organization engaged in the design and implementation of community and habitat development programs across the archipelago. It envisions a society of empowered communities with full citizen entitlements, where women and men have control over their lives and share equally in the benefits of development taking place within the carrying capacity of the environment.
In pursuit of this vision, PRRM undertakes policy research and advocacy, and helps build civil-society organizations and networks locally and globally.
PRRM is organized both as an NGO and a membership institution. The first allows it to undertake programs at all levels. The second gives it the character of a movement drawing strength and resources from a broad mass base.
PRRM employs scores of full-time and multidisciplinary workers among its staff. It runs a continuing program for staff and career development appropriate to its basic strategy.
PRRM’s financial resources are drawn from outside as well as local sources. Its funding partners include NGOs in the North as well as bilateral and multilateral agencies. Locally, it mobilizes support from its members—in the form of dues, donations, and technology extension—and from its endowment fund.
PRRM owns a 14-hectare training facility in the province of Nueva Ecija. This facility doubles as in-house training venue and income center when leased out occasionally to other agencies.
Community & Habitat is PRRM’s regular publication. Occasionally, PRRM also publishes books and produces video documentaries and other information, education, and communication materials relevant to community and habitat development and management.
